Bring shoes that will stay on your feet in the river. Flip flops will not stay on your feet in the river, no matter how bad you want them to. We swear! We suggest old sneakers, water shoes, or sports sandals. Wearing secure shoes will help protect your feet and keep the river clean.

Because you're so responsible, you'll probably also pack sunblock, towels, a change of clothes, water, and snacks. All good ideas. Another good idea you probably have is cheap sunglasses! You're a pro already.

If you're bringing something on the river with you, you'll want to make sure you can keep it dry. And don't forget the trash bags! The Yadkin is beautiful and we want it to stay that way. Don't be "that guy".

In list form:

  • River shoes (we talked about leaving the flip flops at home, remember?)
  • Sunblock
  • Towels
  • Change of clothes/shoes (flip flops are okay AFTER your trip)
  • Water
  • Snacks
  • Trash bags
  • Sunglasses (that pair you kind of want to lose anyway)

Things you should not bring on the river include: glass, wallets, keys, valuable jewelry, family heirlooms, every form of ID you've ever been issued, important documents, electronics, cats, you get the picture. If you don't want to ruin or lose it, leave it in the car or at home.
